Routine well child appointments are scheduled 1 to 2 months in advance, as well as 1 year in advance. Please note there is high demand in summer months, so schedule early.
Sick visits are usually scheduled the same day or within 24 hours of your request. We do have a rescheduling policy if you are late. Please see our Office Policies under About tab.
If you must cancel an appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance or a missed appointment fee will be charged….see Office Policies under Patient Resources tab.
Established patients are welcome to call our office during regular business hours to ask questions about basic newborn and child care and questions about illnesses. Messages left for our nurses will generally be answered within the hour, however, during times of high patient care volume it may be later. If you have a more urgent matter, contact the receptionist.
If your child is experiencing a true medical emergency, call 911 immediately or proceed to the nearest emergency room. If you have an urgent medical matter that cannot wait until the office reopens you can contact us at our regular office phone number 703-777-5222 and the doctor on-call will be paged. If the doctor has not returned your call within 20 minutes please call again and be sure you have clearly left a phone number where you can be reached. If our usual phone system is down, updated details will be noted on the website announcements pop up as well as our facebook page. Please note we do not refill prescriptions or make appointments during after-hours times.
Please have your pharmacy fax a request for prescription refills during our usual business hours. Prescriptions will generally be faxed back to your pharmacy within two business days. If your prescription was filled by a doctor other than from our practice we cannot “refill” the prescription. If we have not discussed or prescribed this medication for your child or if there is a lapse in its use, we will require an appointment before filling the prescription. You may leave a message on the nurses’ prescription refill line by phone if you have special circumstances not covered above.
Prescriptions for controlled substances require 72 hours notice and must be picked up in person by the parent.
Yes, our staff can schedule longer appointment times for a variety of issues or problems including attention issues, anger problems, anxiety issues, social problems, family discord, constipation and other medical or psychosocial issues.
In most cases our physicians will complete and sign forms during well child appointments so remember to bring them with you. This includes forms for administration of medications at school. There will be an administrative fee charged for forms requested at a time other than the appointment. We require a 48 hour turn around time on all forms submitted outside the scheduled appointment
